What is Power Inverters

The inverter is one device of electrical or electro-mechanical that converts direct current (DC current) to alternating current (AC current); the resulting AC current can be at any required voltage and frequency with the use of appropriate transformers, switching, and control circuits.
The electrical inverter is a high-power electronic oscillator. It is so named because early mechanical AC to DC converters were made to work in reverse, and thus were "inverted", to convert DC to AC. The inverter performs the opposite function of a rectifier.

The portable power Inverters, such as car power Inverters have no moving parts and are used in a wide range of applications, from small switching power supplies in computers or cigarette lighter socket, to large electric utility high-voltage direct current applications that transport bulk power.

Sine wave of power inverters for RV (Recreational Vehicle)

The sine wave or sinusoid is a function that occurs often in mathematics, physics, signal processing, audition, electrical engineering, and many other fields.
There are 2 types of wave for power invertors:

1. true-sine wave Power Inverters (pure sine wave invertors)

The ture since wave inverters are reliable, the output waveform is the exact shape on which all electronics were designed to run. So No matter what the input voltage, (within the limits of normal operation; 10.5 to 17 Vdc), output voltage and peak voltage will be same as the utility power.

2. Modified-Sine Wave Power Inverters ( Quasi Sine wave Invertor )

Modified-sine wave power inverters produce a power wave that is sufficient for most devices. The power wave is not exactly the same as electricity from the power grid. It has a wave form that appears as a choppy squared-off wave when viewed through an oscilloscope.

For example, when the vehicle is not running and battery voltage is approximately 12 volts, output peak voltage would be approximately 140 volts AC. When the car is started, the alternator will drive the battery up to 14.5 volts. This drives peak output voltage of the inverter up to 185 volts AC.

Pure Since Inverter or Modified Sine wave Inver??

We often recommend that users buy true-sine wave power inverters to run required equipment and purchase a less expensive modified-sine wave inverter to run the rest of the load.

We usually suggest choosing power inverters that are rated under 300 watts when using the 12-volt cigarette lighter socket found in most vehicles. Because after reaching 300 watts of draw on the inverter, the fuses in your car will begin to blow.

Modified-Sine Wave, Quasi-Sine wave inverts or ,Square wave inverters, which are appropriate for most consumer electronics, can be used for groups as below:

300 watts inverter: For household appliances, TVs (up to 27 inch), VCR, desktop computers, other mobile office equipment. Most of these connect via a 12-Volt plug.

700 watts car inverter : For household appliances, large screen TVs, 5-amp power tools, and bread machines. Most such inverters are connected directly to the 12-volt battery and have three or more grounded outlets for powering several products at the same time.

1500 watts car power inveters: For household appliances, larger power tools, microwave ovens, toasters, and hair dryers. All of theses inverters are designed for direct connection to the battery network and can generally supply 1500 watts of continuous power.

3000 watts protable power inverters: With output power generally rated at 2500 watts for continuous load, these inverters can power virtually all household appliances and office equipment. For loads of this magnitude, special wiring and battery banks may be required.
